Maher Defends Trump Mocking Reporter Over ‘Stupid Question’

Liberal comedian Bill Maher defended President Donald Trump mocking a reporter this week who asked him about visiting the site of a plane crash, which happened in the water.

Maher made the remarks on his HBO show “Real Time” in response to the following exchange that Trump had with the reporter in the Oval Office following the tragic plane and helicopter crash:

REPORTER: Have you spoken to any of the families of the victims of the plane crash?

TRUMP: I don’t want to comment on that.

REPORTER: Do you have a plan to go visit the site?

TRUMP: I have a plan to visit, not the site, because you tell me — what’s the site? The water? You want me to go swimming?

Maher said that Trump’s response to the “stupid question” was “exactly right.”

“They asked him a question about the crash and they said, ‘Will you visit the crash site?'” Maher said. “Now, every other politician would go, ‘Of course, it was a tragedy.'”

“And he went, ‘It’s the water. What do you want me to do, swim there?'” Maher continued. “Yeah. And I was like, exactly! F*** right! You’re exactly right. It’s a stupid question.”

“And you got just the answer you deserve,” he added. “And that is why they like him.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
