Popular ‘Hot Ones’ Internet Show Turned Down Kamala Interview

A popular YouTube show called “Hot Ones” turned down then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ request to appear on the show, saying that they wanted to steer clear of politics.

The revelation was made this week when top Harris aides appeared on “Pod Save America,” where they discussed what went wrong in the campaign.

“’Hot Ones,’ which is a great show, they didn’t wanna do any politics, so they weren’t going to take us or him,” senior campaign adviser Stephanie Cutter said, according to the New York Post. “So that was the issue.”

“Hot Ones” features celebrities and other special guests eating increasingly hot wings while host Sean Evans interviews them.

Cutter said the Harris team got the same reaction from other types of non-political media they tried to book. Now-President-elect Donald Trump, however, did not have the same issue, the top aides confided.

“I don’t think he had the same problem,” Jen O’Malley Dillon, Harris’ campaign manager, told the podcast. Trump “certainly was able to tap into some cultural elements in ways that we couldn’t,” she added.

“Pod Save America” co-host Dan Pfeiffer said Harris was “better suited” for the show than any other candidate in history.

“The idea that it would be more politically problematic to have on Kamala Harris, the sitting vice president of the United States, than Donald Trump, a man who’s been convicted of a crime and tried to violently overthrow the election,” Pfeiffer complained.

During the same episode, the Harris team discussed why their candidate never appeared on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast despite an invite. Much has been made over the omission, since it’s the most popular podcast in the world and has an exceptionally large young male audience — a demo Harris did not deliver in.

Senior campaign adviser David Plouffe shockingly suggested host Joe Rogan did not have pure intentions and was using the invite as “leverage” so now-President-elect Donald Trump would appear in the Austin-based studio.

“So what’s clear is we offered to do it in Austin, people should know that,” Plouffe said. “It didn’t work out. Maybe they leveraged that to get Trump in studio, I don’t know.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
