49ers First-Round Draft Pick Shot During Attempted Robbery In San Francisco

San Francisco 49ers first-round draft pick Ricky Pearsall was shot on Saturday by a 17-year-old boy who was allegedly attempting to steal his Rolex watch while he was en route to a signing event.

The football team said in a statement that he was released from the hospital on Sunday after being shot in the chest.

“He and his family, along with the entire San Francisco 49ers organization, would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical services, doctors and staff at San Francisco General Hospital,” the team said.

Police said that the suspect, who was not named because he was a minor, tried to rob Pearsall at gun point at which point Pearsall tried to fight back and get control of the weapon. During the course of the struggle for the gun, both individuals were shot by the same weapon.

Both individuals were taken to the hospital and the suspect is now in custody.

“He was shot in the chest and it exited out his back,” said Pearsall’s mother, Erin, in a post on social media. “Thanks be to GOD it missed his vital organs. He is in good spirits right now.”

The incident is just the latest embarrassment for the city of San Francisco, which has been plagued in recent years with property and violent crime that has forced numerous businesses to leave the city.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
