Aerosmith Officially Gives Up Touring Due To Steven Tyler’s Vocal Injury

Aerosmith has officially stopped touring due to a vocal injury lead singer Steven Tyler sustained last year.

Band members announced on Friday that all remaining tour dates would be canceled with no plans to reschedule or resume at a later time. Their most recent “Peace Out.. Farewell Tour” was already being billed as their goodbye, per Variety. Aerosmith postponed future dates after a show in Elmont, NY, in September 2023 but has now decided to cancel those missed tour stops for good.

“It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history,” the band shared in a statement.

“It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours.  In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives,” the statement continued.

“We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing.  As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other.  He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury.  We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”

The statement also mentioned that fans who purchased tickets for the canceled shows will be refunded.

Aerosmith formed in Boston in 1970. They’re often called “America’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band” and are the best-selling rock band ever, with more than 150 million records sold worldwide. The five members have mostly remained consistent for the past 50 years, minus some short hiatuses. Variety noted that longtime drummer Joey Kramer was not part of the farewell tour following some drama with other band members.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
