Anti-Israel Demonstrators Chant ‘Heil Hitler,’ Do Nazi Salute Taunting Israeli Olympic Team

Anti-Israel demonstrators brandishing Palestinian flags and a sign that read “Genocide Olympics” reportedly chanted “Heil Hitler” and did the Nazi salute while the Israeli national anthem was played before the Israeli men’s soccer team played Paraguay at the Paris Olympics on Saturday night.

At the Israeli men’s team’s opening game against Mali, which ended in a 1-1 tie, anti-Israel demonstrators booed during the playing of the Israeli national anthem. The day before, Israel team coach Guy Luzon, was apprised that there would be demonstrations against Israel at the game, and told a press conference, “Bring on the loudest protests. They will make us try harder.”

On Sunday, Nurali Emomali, a judo competitor from Tajikistan, refused to shake hands with his Israeli competitor, Baruch Shmailov, after the match, which Emomali won, allegedly yelling “Allahu Akbar.” In what some observers called “karma,” in the next match against Japan’s Hifumi Abe, Emomali suffered what appeared to be a dislocated left shoulder and was left in tears on the mat.

According to The Times of Israel, Israel’s Olympic athletes received death threats in mid-July. A message from an entity that identified itself as “the People’s Defense Organization,” which the Times of Israel reported “doesn’t exist,” stated:

The People’s Defense Organization announces that it intends to harm any Israeli presence at the Olympics … the Jewish lobby that controls the French Parliament won’t decide anything anymore … the fate of the Zionists will be like the fate of the Palestinians in Gaza if the Zionists continue to threaten everyone. … Therefore, you’re not invited to Paris 2024. If you come, take into account that we intend to repeat the events of Munich 1972. … You will be awaiting attack at every moment — in the airport, the hotel, and the streets which belong only to us. Even a wave of arrests against our organization won’t stop us from seeing our plan through. Prepare for the intifada!

“Some Israeli athletes, including the Opening Ceremony flagbearer, judoka Peter Paltchik; and swimmer Meiron Amir Cheruti, received invitations to their own funerals,” the Times of Israel reported. “A screenshot of the message sent to Cheruti showed the message inviting him to his funeral and listing his date of death as July 27, 2024. The message also included a link that supposedly contained directions to the location of the funeral.”

In 1972, eight Palestinian terrorists from the group Black September, an affiliate of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), invaded the Olympic Village, murdering two Israeli athletes while holding nine others hostage. When a rescue attempt was made, the Palestinians murdered the nine hostages. Many of the Israeli athletes had lost family members in the Holocaust.

“The mastermind of the Munich Massacre, Abu Daoud, had openly stated that Yasser Arafat, the PLO chairman, approved the terror plot,” the Jerusalem Post noted.

While the terror against the Israeli athletes was being perpetrated, Avery Brundage, the president of the Olympic Committee, declared that the Games must continue.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
