Axios Posts Interview Stats On 2024 Presidential Tickets, And It’s Not Close

Fox News highlighted the dramatic disparity in the number of interviews, press conferences, and general media availability of the Republican presidential ticket versus the Democratic presidential ticket — and the results were not even close.

The outlet shared data published on Thursday morning by Axios under the headline “The Harris-Walz media strategy: Hide from the press.” Counting the total number of interviews and press interactions allowed thus far by Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) — and weighing those against the time remaining until Election Day on November 5 — Axios reported, “The Harris-Walz ticket is on pace to do fewer interviews and press conferences than any major party’s presidential pairing in modern U.S. history.”

According to the Axios report — which only covered media access since President Joe Biden exited the presidential race on July 21 — Harris has only done one local interview and Walz has done three. In comparison, former President Donald Trump has done seven and his running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-OH), has done 15.

The Democratic ticket did not fare much better when it came to other media formats, either. Harris, for example, has done just one interview for a print publication and one national television interview — a pre-recorded interview with CNN’s Dana Bash — and despite calls for her to hold an official press conference, her tally remains at zero. Walz sat in on the CNN interview with Harris, but has done no press conferences and no print interviews whether alone or alongside Harris.

On the flip side, Trump has done one print interview, two national television interviews, and three formal press conferences — more than Harris and Walz combined. Vance bested even Trump with eight print interviews, 24 national television appearances, and 12 press conferences.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
