Ben Shapiro Celebrates After Harris Reportedly Makes VP Pick: ‘Massive Gift To The Republicans’

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro responded on Tuesday to Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly tapping Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, calling the decision a “massive gift to the Republicans” and “political malpractice.”

CNN and the Associated Press reported on Tuesday morning that Harris selected Walz. The decision is expected to be made official when the two Democrats appear at a rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday afternoon.

Shapiro celebrated Harris’ choice, calling Walz “a radical Leftist” who has “a long history of insane statements.” He also argued that selecting Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro would have made more political sense, but since he’s Jewish, tapping the Pennsylvania governor would’ve enraged the anti-Israel segment of the Democratic Party.

“Picking Walz is a massive gift to the Republicans. He’s a radical Leftist from a non-swing state with a long history of insane statements, who presided over the burning down of his state in 2020. Kamala picked him because he’s not a Jew, and she’s Too Online™,” Shapiro wrote on X.

The Daily Wire host added in a follow-up post:

As someone who wants Kamala to lose, picking Walz is wonderful! It’s political malpractice! Why?

1. Not from a swing state.
2. Radical, underscoring her radicalism.
3. She rejected (((Shapiro))) to please the pro-Hamas caucus.

She’s not competent. And this pick shows it.

In addition to the Pennsylvania governor, Walz reportedly beat out other VP contenders such as Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear.

Walz, 60, has moved increasingly to the Left during his time as Minnesota’s governor, signing legislation that protects gender procedures on children, tightening gun laws, and making abortion a “fundamental right.” He also oversaw the violent riots that overtook Minneapolis during the summer of 2020 in response to the death of George Floyd. The destruction resulted in more than $500 million in property damage to hundreds of businesses.

“[Harris] is full-scale radical. Remember, Tim Walz is Bernie Sanders from Minnesota,” Shapiro said on his show, which aired live following reports of Harris’ VP pick. “He is a radical leftist. It’s so mind-bogglingly stupid, and that’s why I’m so excited about it.”

“The mask is off. Kamala Harris has been attempting to present herself as a moderate,” Shapiro added. “She keeps switching all of her positions. She’ll send out her surrogates to pretend she doesn’t hold the thing now that she held four years ago. And now it’s been proved it was all a lie. She wants to please her radical base.”
