Ben Shapiro Says Dems Trotting Out Obama To Campaign For Kamala Is ‘A Desperation Move’

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro said on Friday that former President Barack Obama hitting the campaign trail for Vice President Kamala Harris in the final days of the 2024 race is “a desperation move” from Democrats.

Shapiro discussed the Democrats’ latest strategy on Fox News host Brian Kilmeade’s radio show as former President Donald Trump continues to poll strongly against Harris in battleground states just 24 days before the election. The Daily Wire host said that Democrats have attempted to use Obama’s influence to help other candidates in the past, but “it has never worked.”

“For some reason, Democrats have had this bizarre notion that Obama is capable of shifting all the allegiance that people have for him to other candidates. It has never worked. He tried it with Hillary Clinton. He tried it with Biden. He’s tried it with Kamala Harris,” Shapiro told Kilmeade. “It’s never been transferable. Whatever people like about Barack Obama, it doesn’t move over to other candidates, which is why he experienced massive Democratic Party losses across the country while he was president.”

Obama campaigned for Harris in Pittsburgh on Thursday night and ripped Trump’s record, arguing that he was responsible for the “pretty good economy” under Trump. Shapiro blasted Obama’s logic as “incoherent.”

“So, just to get this straight. He is saying basically that if you’re the president, then the subsequent president’s economic record is yours,” Shapiro said. “Okay, so then how exactly do Joe Biden and Kamala brag about their economy if their economy is so wonderful? Shouldn’t Donald Trump be able to just say, ‘Well, that’s actually my economy’?”

“None of it makes any sense,” he added. “But is that calculated to make any sense? It’s a desperation move and you’re seeing tons of desperation moves.”

Shapiro told Kilmeade that Harris’ campaign “is clearly floundering right now,” pointing to the vice president ramping up her appearances on talk shows and podcasts, including her appearance on “The View” where she said “nothing comes to mind” when asked if she would do anything differently than President Joe Biden.

“The thing that is so off-putting about Kamala Harris is that either you already know her worldview, which is radical Left, or you have no idea what her worldview is,” he said. “And she’s not clarifying it for you because she doesn’t want you to know her worldview, and she’s just an empty vessel.”
