Biden Said He Wanted His Legacy To Include He ‘Cured’ The Economy — Days Before Market Plunge

Less than a week before the U.S. stock markets took another tumble on Monday, President Joe Biden said he wanted his accomplishments to include curing the economy.

A reporter asked Biden what he wanted his “legacy” for Gen Z to entail during the early hours of last Tuesday morning.

Biden replied, “That I’ve cured the economy — and the environment and a few other small things.”

The comment generated renewed attention as the Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq indexes plummeted in what The Wall Street Journal called a “global selloff” during the morning hours on Monday after stocks also dropped last Friday amid concerns about a recession.

“He cured the economy in the same way he cured Stage IV dementia,” Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro quipped on X.

Washington Free Beacon reporter Chuck Ross similarly mocked Biden, saying, “Cured the economy the same way he ended cancer.”

Biden pledged during his 2020 campaign to “cure cancer” elected. The White House has touted a “Cancer Moonshot” program but has not yet delivered on Biden’s lofty promise.

Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Rebeccah Heinrichs compared Biden’s comment to one by his national security adviser declaring last year the Middle East region was “quieter” than it had been in two decades — a little more than a week before Hamas launched a terrorist attack on Israel.

“It’s not just that the policy is bad, it’s that they are SO sure it’s good. Remarkable hubris,” Heinrichs said.

A couple of weeks ago, Biden ended his re-election campaign as fellow Democrats urged him to drop out after a fumbling debate performance spurred concerns about his mental capacity and electability.

Vice President Kamala Harris, whom Biden endorsed as his successor, recently clinched the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. Some of her political foes have begun to spread the “KamalaCrash” hashtag.

In response to a clip of Biden making his comment about the economy last week, Fox News contributor Guy Benson asked, “Does Kamala Harris agree with Joe Biden that their policies ‘cured the economy’?”

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said in a post to X that Harris “must immediately—without a script—explain her economic policies.” He added, “If she can’t answer a single question, she can’t handle the job.”

Former Trump White House adviser Stephen Miller said in a response to Cotton, “Kamala must hold a press conference or resign. If she can’t answer a single question about an economic emergency she can’t be VP or POTUS.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
