‘Blatant Corruption’: Republican Leading Biden Family Investigation Slams Hunter Pardon

House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) ripped into President Joe Biden for issuing a pardon to his son Hunter on Sunday night, calling the action an attempt to avoid responsibility for “blatant corruption.”

Comer, who has been leading an investigation into the Biden family, said that the pardon was an attempt to escape accountability. Hunter was scheduled to be sentenced later this month for gun and tax evasion crimes.

“Joe Biden has lied from start to finish about his family’s corrupt influence peddling activities. Not only has he falsely claimed that he never met with his son’s foreign business associates and that his son did nothing wrong, but he also lied when he said he would not pardon Hunter Biden,” Comer said in a statement.

“The charges Hunter faced were just the tip of the iceberg in the blatant corruption that President Biden and the Biden Crime Family have lied about to the American people. It’s unfortunate that, rather than come clean about their decades of wrongdoing, President Biden and his family continue to do everything they can to avoid accountability,” the Kentucky Republican added.

As part of its investigation into the Bidens, the Oversight Committee has said that the president’s family had used their influence and status to make money around the globe largely beginning at the end of his vice presidency in 2015. According to the committee, the Biden family and their associates have received over $20 million in payments from foreign entities, raising national security concerns.

One WhatsApp message revealed last year appeared to show Hunter shaking down Chinese energy executive Henry Zhao for money in the summer of 2017.

“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight,” Hunter wrote to Zhao, according to the text.

In post on X, the Oversight Committee said that the Biden administration has been marked by an “unprecedented” abuse of power.

“From the lawfare against President Trump to now the pardoning of Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s unprecedented abuse of power has been a stain on the honor of the U.S. presidency,” the committee said.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
