Burglars Broke Into Windsor Castle Estate Near Home Of Prince William And Kate Middleton

Masked burglars broke into farm buildings on the Windsor Castle estate owned by the royal family, where Prince William, his wife Kate Middleton, and their three children live in a nearby residence, police confirmed on Monday.

The news broke in the British tabloid The Sun. According to the outlet, the two burglars were able to breach a six-foot fence around the property in their quest to gain access to the farm equipment. They reportedly used a stolen vehicle to crash through the security gate on their way out.

The British heir to the throne is believed to have been at Adelaide Cottage with his family, including Kate and Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, when the intrusion occurred. His father, King Charles III, and his wife, Queen Camilla, are known to stay on the property but were traveling at the time of the incident.

A spokesman for the Thames Valley Police said they had received a report of a burglary on Crown Estate land shortly before midnight on October 13, per The New York Times.

“Offenders entered a farm building and made off with a black Isuzu pickup and a red quad bike,” the police spokesman said. “No arrests have been made at this stage and an investigation is ongoing.”

Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace declined to comment on the burglary. They are known for not issuing statements on security matters.

This isn’t the first time the royal family had a major security concern. On Christmas Day in 2021, police confronted a man wearing a metal face mask carrying a crossbow. He told officers, “I am here to kill the queen,” the outlet noted.

Jaswant Singh Chail was convicted of treason and sentenced to nine years in prison.

There was also the infamous incident in 1982 when a man named Michael Fagan broke into the palace twice in one summer. The second time, he was able to access Queen Elizabeth’s bedroom while she was sleeping.

“They say she must have been frightened. I didn’t frighten her too much but I was quite shocked,” he told The Sun of finding the queen in her bed. “She used a phone on the bedside table to call security but when nobody came she got out of bed. Her nightie was one of those Liberty prints and it was down to her knees. She said, ‘Just one minute, I’ll get someone,’ swept past me and ran out of the room, her little bare feet running across the floor.”

The intruder later blamed alcohol and magic mushrooms he had taken months earlier for his actions.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
