EXCLUSIVE: Speaker Johnson Responds To Judge Dismissing Trump Docs Case, Calls It ‘Good News’ For The Country

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) provided The Daily Wire with an exclusive first reaction to the dismissal of special counsel Jack Smith‘s classified documents case against former President Donald Trump on Monday.

The news broke as Johnson was speaking with Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

“It’s the right result. We’ve had lots of consternation about this in the House, of course,” Johnson told The Daily Wire. “We’ve been ringing the bells about Jack Smith and how inappropriate the whole thing was and it’s really gratifying to see a court rule that.”

Johnson further stated that he was looking forward to reading District Court Judge Aileen Cannon’s order, which said Smith’s appointment as special counsel was unconstitutional.

“This news broke while I was doing an interview with Ben Shapiro just a few moments ago,” Johnson added. “So, um, it’s really good news. Not just for President Trump and our party, of course, but for the country.”

Trump, who is expected to reveal his vice presidential pick and formally receive the GOP’s presidential nomination at the convention, also responded to the dismissal in a post to Truth Social. He made reference to surviving an assassination attempt over the weekend and the other legal matters he faces while seeking another term in the White House.

“As we move forward in Uniting our Nation after the horrific events on Saturday, this dismissal of the Lawless Indictment in Florida should be just the first step, followed quickly by the dismissal of ALL the Witch Hunts — The January 6th Hoax in Washington, D.C., the Manhattan D.A.’s Zombie Case, the New York A.G. Scam, Fake Claims about a woman I never met (a decades old photo in a line with her then husband does not count), and the Georgia ‘Perfect’ Phone Call charges,'” Trump said.

He continued, “The Democrat Justice Department coordinated ALL of these Political Attacks, which are an Election Interference conspiracy against Joe Biden’s Political Opponent, ME. Let us come together to END all Weaponization of our Justice System, and Make America Great Again!”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
