EXCLUSIVE: Trump Transition Launches ‘Road to 47’ Newsletter To Circumvent DC ‘Elites’

In the face of critical legacy media reports and opposition on Capitol Hill, President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team is working to forge a more direct line of communication with the American people through a playbook-style newsletter.

The Trump transition is launching a newsletter on Tuesday with the goal of establishing “transparent communication” with the public on Trump’s future policies and plans, The Daily Wire has exclusively learned. That newsletter is specifically aimed at Americans looking for real information about the transition process, who are frustrated with the mainstream media’s aggressively critical reporting on Trump.

“For far too long, the American people have been kept in the dark by bureaucrats and elites in Washington, DC,” Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told The Daily Wire. “The Trump-Vance Transition newsletter will deliver top news, updates on the transition process, details on President Trump’s brilliant Cabinet picks, and video highlights.”

The first transition newsletter, obtained ahead of publication by The Daily Wire, highlights the work of news outlets covering stories of interest to the Trump transition team. For example, Tuesday’s newsletter cites reporting from The Daily Wire, Fox News, and The Washington Times, as well as an op-ed on Tulsi Gabbard in National Review.

The newsletter will include top news stories about the president-elect and his cabinet picks, as well as their road to confirmation, video highlights, and any White House transition updates that team Trump thinks the public should know about. For example, Tuesday’s first edition of the “Road to 47” newsletter will highlight that the CEO of SoftBank announced a $100 billion investment into the U.S. economy, citing confidence in the economy due to Trump’s 2024 victory.

“That’s the Trump Effect, and with him back in office, that’s just the start,” writes Trump transition team member Tommy Pigott, a former strategic communications director for the Republican National Committee who will write the newsletter in conjunction with Eric Leydon. It will also mention Trump’s visit to the New York Stock Exchange; his appearance at the Army-Navy game with Vice President-Elect JD Vance and his Secretary of Defense nominee, Pete Hegseth; Time Magazine naming Trump the “Person of the Year”; and his nominees’ visits to Capitol Hill.

There’s anticipation that the Trump White House could redefine the media landscape in Washington, granting access to a new slew of non-traditional media outlets. Donald Trump Jr, the president’s son and close advisor, suggested to The Daily Wire last month that the seating chart in the press briefing room could be completely revamped during his father’s second term.

The inaugural newsletter includes a Daily Wire report on 120 retired generals and admirals voicing support for Hegseth for Secretary of Defense, as well as coverage of The Daily Wire’s investigation exposing the Biden administration’s push to sell off border wall materials. Trump weighed in on that story this week, saying, “Now it’s about double the price of what it would’ve been six years ago, and the administration is trying to sell it for five cents on the dollar…it’s almost a criminal act.”

“The mandate from the election was clear – Americans want to end Biden’s border crisis and secure the border,” writes Pigott. “They know the incoming Trump administration will build hundreds of miles of border wall – like the first Trump administration. It’s a parting insult from Joe Biden after years of grievous injury on the border. Inauguration Day can’t come soon enough.”

Trump nominees are hitting Capitol Hill to answer questions from senators and woo those who might be on the fence about their nominations. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s choice to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, is the latest Trump pick to make his way around Washington senate offices.

Gabbard, Trump’s nominee to serve as Director of National Intelligence, has also been meeting with senators, and Hegseth made some high-profile visits to the Senate as well.

During a Monday morning news conference, Trump weighed in on senators opposing his nominations, telling the press: “If they’re opposing somebody for political reasons or stupid reasons, I would say it has nothing to do with me. I would say they probably would be primaried.”

“But if they’re reasonable, fair, and really disagree with something or somebody, I can see that happening,” he added.

The transition newsletter is intended for everyone, Trump’s team told The Daily Wire, including the press, his supporters, and grassroots activists.

Trump’s inauguration will take place in Washington, D.C., on January 20, 2025.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
