Germany Charges American For Stabbing Migrant Who Sexually Assaulted Her

An American citizen could face ten years in German prison for stabbing an African migrant who sexually assaulted her in a train station.

The migrant grabbed the unnamed 20-year-old woman’s buttocks, she pulled out a knife, he grabbed her arm, and she wound up stabbing him in the heart, leading to his death, according to the German newspaper Junge Freiheit. German prosecutors in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate have brought charges against her.

Prosecutors don’t believe she meant to kill the man, but still don’t believe it was within the bounds of self-defense.

According to The Sun, the migrant was a 64-year-old from Eritrea, and the woman, who turned herself in to police, has been charged with causing bodily harm resulting in death.

The Daily Wire asked the State Department if it is assisting the woman. A spokeswoman said, “We are aware of reports of a U.S. citizen involved in an incident at Kaiserslautern train station in Germany. We take seriously our commitment to provide all appropriate assistance to U.S. citizens abroad, and are monitoring the situation.  Due to privacy considerations, we have nothing further to share at this time.”

Udo Gehring, Kaiserslautern’s prosecutor, said in a statement that the incident occurred on June 29. “The stabbing was preceded by the 64-year-old sexually harassing the 20-year-old by grabbing her buttocks, [which led to] an exchange of words, and the 20-year-old opening a folding knife she was carrying and making stabbing movements in the direction of the 64-year-old, whereupon he backed away and the 20-year-old followed him,” he said.

“The 64-year-old then grabbed the 20-year-old’s arm, which she was using to wield the knife. The 20-year-old freed herself from this grip and stabbed once in the same movement,” he continued.

The young woman’s possible sentence of 10 years in prison is far greater than that faced by migrants who gang-raped a German girl in a city park in 2020. Nine migrants were convicted in the case, and only one saw prison time, even though none expressed regret at sentencing. The German police instead investigated more than 100 people for criticizing the culprits in that case. In June, a different 20-year-old woman in Germany was sentenced to jail for defamation for calling one of those men a “disgusting rapist pig”—meaning she faced a sterner punishment than he did.

Prosecutors said they were looking into why the girl in the latest train-station incident was carrying a knife. In August, a Syrian migrant who was supposed to have been deported stabbed three people to death and injured eight others, leading a leader of a right-wing party to say, “Is that your ‘diversity’? When people are cut into pieces with machetes or horrifically slaughtered like animals?”

In 2015, more than 1,000 women were sexually assaulted by migrants at a New Year’s Eve celebration in Germany. In September 2023, 26 German police were injured as masses of Eritrean migrants fought each other in the streets.
