Leftist Hasan Piker Booted From Twitch Over Remark About D.C. Terror Attack

Streming platform Twitch suspended leftist streamer Hasan Piker after he suggested that the Washington, D.C., terror attack that killed two Israeli embassy staff looked like a “false flag” incident.

Piker posted about his suspension on Saturday along with a screenshot of a message from Twitch explaining that his account has been temporarily suspended over “improper handling of terrorist propaganda.”

“i covered the motives of the israeli embassy staff shooter. twitch tos dictates a suspension for even critical examination of the manifesto. i believe this is a bad policy for news and press freedom. ill take the suspension, but hope twitch changes this policy in the future [sic],” Piker posted.

The suspension came after Piker, whose Twitch account has over 2.8 million followers, said that the D.C. terror attack that took place on Wednesday night had all the hallmarks of a false flag operation.

A false flag is an incident staged to lay the blame on a particular person or group. In this case, conspiracy theorists have claimed that the terror attack in Washington was carried out to portray the “free Palestine” movement badly.

“I’m not ‘Mr. False Flag’ at all, but, like, every single thing that he did in the aftermath of the shooting is so f***ing crazy that it’s, like, you could not have designed a f***ing incident like this. You could not have designed a better false flag incident like this,” Piker said, referring to the alleged shooter Elias Rodriguez.

“I’m not saying it is a false flag incident at all. I’m not saying that. I think this is just one dude who is genuine in his actions and maybe, you know, a little bit brain broken, okay?” he added.

The New York Times recently profiled Piker as, “A Progressive Mind in a Body Made for the ‘Manosphere,’ suggesting that he could help liberals rebound with young men that have been lost by Democrats.

It came even though Piker has a history of making controversial statements. In 2019, Piker said on one stream that the United States “deserved” the 9-11 terror attacks.

“Americas foreign policy decisions has lead to 911. this would’ve been a controversial thing to say in 2001. stop being a f***ing idiot,” he said in follow-up social media posts.

Prosecutors charged Rodriguez on Thursday with a slew of federal and local charges related to the Wednesday evening shooting that killed Israeli Embassy staff members Yaron Lischinsky, 30, and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, 26. Lischinsky and Milgrim were dating and soon to be engaged.

Rodriguez has been charged with three federal counts: murder of foreign officials, causing the death of a person through the use of a firearm, and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence. He was charged with two additional local counts of first degree murder.

After he shot Lischinsky and Milgrim, Rodriguez met police and began shouting pro-Palestinian phrases and saying he “did it for Palestine,” according to an FBI affidavit of the shooting.

“[Rodriguez] spontaneously stated on scene to MPD, ‘I did it for Palestine, I did it for Gaza, I am unarmed.’ [Rodriguez] was holding a red scarf identified by one witness as a ‘Kaffiyeh.’ As MPD officers were escorting [Rodriguez] from the Museum, he shouted ‘Free Palestine,’” the affidavit says.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
