Harris Uses Walz To Swipe At Vance: ‘Varsity Team And The JV Squad’

Vice President Kamala Harris contrasted on Tuesday her new running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, to former President Donald Trump‘s pick, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH).

A rally in Philadelphia served as the first time the public got a chance to see Harris appear with Walz as partners in the Democratic Party’s presidential ticket for the 2024 election.

“He really does shine a light on a brighter future that we can build together. In his state, he has been a model chief executive,” Harris declared.

“With his experience,” she added, Walz would be ready on “day one” to serve in the White House starting next January.

After the audience cheered, Harris delivered a line that alluded to Walz being a former high school football coach.

“When you compare [Tim Walz’s] resume — shall we? — to Trump’s running mate, well, some might say it’s like a matchup between the varsity team and the JV squad,” Harris said.

Harris said voters “each face a question, what kind of country do we want to live in: a country of freedom, compassion, and rule of law; or a country of chaos, fear, and hate?”

“And here’s the beauty of our democracy,” she added. “We each have the power to answer that question. We each have the power to answer that question. The power is with the people!”

Walz edged out Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to become Harris’ VP pick.

Karoline Leavitt, the Trump campaign press secretary, released a statement dubbing Walz “a dangerously liberal extremist” who tried to reshape Minnesota “in the image of” deep-blue California.

She knocked Walz for “proposing his own carbon-free agenda,” “suggesting stricter emission standards for gas-powered cars,” and “embracing policies to allow convicted felons to vote.”

Vance explained to reporters how he believes that Harris picking Walz showed how “radical” and out of touch the vice president is with struggling Americans.

He said they make an “interesting tag team” because Walz “allowed rioters to burn down Minneapolis in the summer of 2020” and Harris “helped bail them out of jail.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
