Hollywood Raises Tens Of Millions For Harris At Star-Studded Event

Stars like Stevie Wonder, Lily Tomlin, and Keegan-Michael Key showed up to help raise tens of millions for Vice President Kamala Harris at a Los Angeles fundraising event.

On Sunday, Harris made her first major fundraising stop in southern California since she replaced President Joe Biden at the top of the ticket — after Biden stepped out of the race — the Hollywood Reporter reported.

The event was held at the J.W. Marriott, with tickets to attend ranging from $500 to nearly $1 million to be there, Deadline reported. More than $28 million was raised at the fundraiser, according to a campaign source.

About 1,500 people showed up, with the list of stars — besides Wonder, Tomlin and Key — including Jessica Alba, Alanis Morissette, Sterling K. Brown, Demi-Lovato, Harris’ campaign co-chair Jeffery Katzenberg, Universal chief Donna Langley, and “Watchmen” boss and longtime Damon Lindelof and spouse Heidi, Deadline noted.

Speaking briefly to the room full of celebrities, Harris said “Oh, it’s good to be home,” though she grew up in Oakland, THR noted. “I look around this room and there are people who have been with me here every step of the way.”

However, attending the event as places in the southeastern U.S. have been ravaged by Hurricane Helene, has led to criticism against Harris.

On Monday, on Sirius XM “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast, the host slammed the VP attending the big star fundraising event.

Kelly said the storm hit places in North Carolina on Friday and on Sunday, “well into the devastation, the of loss of life, men, women, children, pets, the entire devastation and destruction of communities, Harris was [at the multi-million dollar LA fundraising event]… The devastation was ongoing. How dare she!”

As of mid-day Monday, the Associated Press reported at least 121 deaths across multiple states, including 30 people killed in the county where Asheville, North Carolina, is located, and efforts to provide relief to flooded areas were ongoing.

Others on social media have noted that no one cares about what Hollywood thinks anymore after people like Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lady Gaga, and more have said they endorse Harris over former President Donald Trump.

“SO the issues really do not matter to Hollywood,” one person wrote. “Why would anyone give a [crap] what any of them think. Rich people problems are not even close to the rest of the world.”

Another person added, “Dear Hollywood celebrities, famous performing artists and athletes, nobody cares about who you are endorsing. You’re not paying for anyone’s groceries or living expenses. You live in a fantasy land. Your job is to entertain us. Stay in your lane.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
