‘Is That How She Talks In Meetings?’: Peter Doocy Asks Press Sec About Kamala’s Sudden ‘Southern Accent’ On Campaign Trail

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked the White House press secretary on Tuesday about Vice President Kamala Harris’ changing accent when speaking to certain crowds on the campaign trail.

Harris, who is the Democrats’ presidential nominee, changed her accent while campaigning in Detroit, versus how she spoke in Pittsburgh, and was accused online of pandering.

“Since when does the vice president have what sounds like a Southern accent?” Doocy asked Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she responded. “Do you think Americans seriously think this is an important question?”

Jean-Pierre continued to dismiss the question and suggested Americans don’t care about Harris’ accents, but do care about the economy — which, under the Biden-Harris administration, hit record high inflation in 2022 and continues to struggle.

The press secretary said “hearing” Doocy’s question “sounds so ridiculous,” to which Doocy suggested hearing Harris’ accent might be what’s ridiculous.

“Well, but, hearing it, is –,” Doocy said. “The question, just the question is insane,” Jean-Pierre interrupted.

“Is that how she talks in meetings here?” Doocy followed up, unable to get an answer.

“You better thank a union member for sick leave, you better thank a union member for paid leave, you better thank a union member for vacation time,” Harris said at the rallies, held mere hours apart on Monday.

In Detroit, she used an accent that sounded “southern,” people online said, while in Pittsburgh, she used the accent she always uses.

She also told the Detroit crowd, “Let’s just get through the next 64 days, how ’bout that?” While in Pittsburgh, though, Harris said, “So friends, 64 days until the most … election of our lives.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
