Kamala Claims She Is The Candidate Who Is Tough On The Border

Vice President Kamala Harris claimed during a taped CNN interview broadcast Thursday that between she and former President Donald Trump, she’s the candidate who is tough on the border despite a historic flood of illegal immigration into the U.S. under the Biden-Harris administration.

Harris made the claim during her first interview as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee.

Host Dana Bash asked Harris why the Biden-Harris administration waited “three and a half years to implement sweeping asylum restrictions.”

“Well, first of all, the root causes work that I did as vice president, that I was asked to do by the president has actually resulted in a number of benefits, including historic investments by American businesses in that region,” she said. “The number of immigrants coming from that region has actually reduced since we’ve began that work.”

Illegal immigration has not decreased significantly. The slight dip in numbers is attributable to two causes, including extreme heat during the summer months that dissuades many migrants from making the journey and the creation of immigration programs that mask the true number of illegal aliens crossing the border, according to former Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf.

Harris then blamed Trump for killing a proposed border bill in the U.S. Senate because “it would not have helped him politically.”

However, Republicans in Congress overwhelmingly rejected the bill, and many said that it would effectively legalize illegal immigration. The Republican senator who worked on the legislation with Democrats eventually dropped his support.

Harris — who said that she wanted to eliminate private health insurance, meaning that everyone is on a taxpayer-funded government healthcare plan, said that she supported including illegal aliens in her healthcare plan. She also said that those who illegally cross the U.S. border, which is a federal crime, are not criminals.

Harris claimed that in this race, she was “the only person who has prosecuted transnational criminal organizations who traffic in guns, drugs, and human beings.”

“I’m the only person in this race who actually served a border state as attorney general to enforce our laws,” she said. “And I would enforce our laws as president going forward.”

Although Trump is not a prosecutor by trade, his presidential administration had a Department of Justice that prosecuted countless cases against “transnational criminal organizations who traffic in guns, drugs, and human beings.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
