Kamala Is A ‘Young Politician’ And ‘Will Be Back,’ Ex-Adviser Says

Vice President Kamala Harris is a “young politician” who “will be back,” a former aide said on Monday, yet another sign that Harris could try to return to the political spotlight after losing the 2024 presidential contest to Donald Trump.

Symone Sanders, who served as a senior adviser and chief spokeswoman to Harris before leaving the Biden administration in late 2021 and joining MSNBC the following year, made the comment during an appearance on the cable network.

“I don’t think the world has seen the last of Vice President Kamala Harris,” Sanders said. “I don’t know how she will show up again, but she is a young politician who garnered over 75 million votes in this election, and she will be back.”

POLITICO reported last month that Harris, who is 60, had been signaling to her confidants that she wants to keep her future political options open, including for a potential 2026 campaign for governor of California or a presidential run in 2028.

Edward-Isaac Dovere, a senior reporter for CNN, later shared that Harris had been conveying to donors and other supporters, “You haven’t seen the last of me. I’m not going quietly into the night,” and her advisers were debating what that meant.

Harris’ allies do not want her “final official act ever to be essentially certifying Donald Trump’s win,” Dovere said during an appearance on CNN’s “Inside Politics,” adding that they see the California governor’s race as being a “layup” for the vice president.

A number of Democrats have already begun campaigns for California governor, but polling indicates Harris would have an edge if she ran. And a Puck News/Echelon Insights poll showed Harris being the top pick for the Democrats’ 2028 presidential primary.

Two weeks ago, during a joint appearance at a Democratic National Committee (DNC) holiday reception in Washington, D.C., President Joe Biden discussed choosing Harris as his running mate and hinted at her potential future in politics.

“She always served this country with purpose and integrity and she always will,” Biden said. The president then turned back to speak directly to Harris and declared, “You’re not going anywhere, kid, because we’re not going to let you go.”

Prior to Biden’s remarks at the same event, Harris used her own speech to reassure fellow Democrats, insisting, “We are not defeated. Let’s be clear about that. We are strong.” She also said: “I promise you I will be with you every step of the way.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
