Kamala Supports Racial Reparations In Resurfaced Videos From Last Run, Has Not Denounced Position

Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris supported racial reparations for black Americans during her 2020 run for the White House, and so far has not denounced the policy position.

Nationally, reparations are deeply unpopular, with about two-thirds of Americans opposing such policy. Opponents, specifically asked about reparations for slavery, often argue that Americans would be paying for sins they didn’t commit, and paying people who didn’t actually experience slavery.

“In the area of reparations for descendants of Africans enslaved — if you’re elected president, would you sign that bill if it came across your desk?” racial agitator and MSNBC personality Al Sharpton asked Harris during her 2020 run for the White House.

“When I am elected president, I will sign that bill,” Harris proudly responded.

In another video, Harris voiced her support for racial reparations during a 2019 interview with The Root, citing slavery, Jim Crow laws, and “segregation on so many levels that exist today.”

“Should black people get reparations,” The Root asked Harris directly.

“I think there has to be some form of reparations, and we can discuss what that is,” she said. “We’re looking at more than 200 years of slavery. We’re looking at almost 100 years of Jim Crow. We’re looking at legalized segregation and, in fact, segregation on so many levels that exist today based on race. And there has not been any kind of intervention.”

According to polling from Pew Research, 66% of Americans oppose reparations, with only 30% in favor. Broken down by race, the disparity is even larger: 77% of black Americans support reparations, while only 8% of white Americans, 33% of Asian Americans, and 39% of Hispanic Americans support them.

It’s unclear if Harris still holds the same position in 2024. Harris has flip-flopped on a number of issues, trying to moderate her far-Left platform. Notably, Harris herself has yet to explain her supposed new positions, instead relying on anonymous staffers to tell the press, which is overtly friendly to Harris.

The presidential hopeful has, for example, flipped on immigration, fracking, and single-payer healthcare. Previously, Harris said it should not be a crime for migrants to enter our country illegally, she enthusiastically promoted a ban on fracking, and said we should do away with private health insurance.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
