Kamala’s Approval Rating Among Crucial Voting Bloc Underwater By 25 Points: Poll

Vice President Kamala Harris is extremely unpopular among independent voters, according to a poll from Gallup that was released on Wednesday — just 48 days before the election.

The Gallup poll shows Harris at a dismal 35% approval rating among independents with 60% of the voting group disapproving of the vice president. Trump’s approval rating among independents is underwater by 9 points — 44% approve of him while 53% disapprove. Among all U.S. adults, Trump has an advantage over Harris with a 46% approval rating to Harris’ 44% approval rating, according to Gallup.

“Despite the overall negative tilt in favorability, both candidates enjoy nearly unanimous positive ratings from their own party faithful and negligible positivity from the opposing party,” Gallup wrote.

Harris’ approval among Democrats stands at 94% while Trump’s approval among Republicans is at 91%.

The Gallup poll presents potential concerns for the Harris campaign as the vice president attempts to convince uncommitted voters to back her run. In the 2020 election, Biden won independent voters by 9 points, 52% to 43%, according to Pew Research. Biden’s 2020 success among independents was a drastic swing in favor of Democrats compared to the 2016 election when Trump beat Hillary Clinton among independent voters 43% to 42%.

Political commentators reacted to the new poll on social media, arguing that it spells disaster for Harris.

“This absolutely tracks with the conversations I’ve had across the country this month,” Fox News columnist David Marcus wrote. “Harris needs to turn this around. Nobody knows who she is or what she stands for, and she’s bleeding trust.”

“Kamala’s favorability ratings are beginning to collapse. Look at the numbers for independent voters!” Outkick founder Clay Travis said. “This is why they are trying to hide her. The more people see her, the less they like her.”

Trump and Harris’ path to victory will likely come down to how well they perform in the seven critical battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. As of Wednesday morning, the race could not be any closer in the top battleground states with Trump and Harris tied at 47.8%, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polling.

Trump holds small leads in Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, while Harris is barely ahead in Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin, per RCP.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
