Kash Patel: Charlie Kirk Suspect in Custody

FBI Director Kash Patel says a suspect in the shooting of Charlie Kirk “is now in custody.”

“The subject for the horrific shooting today that took the life of Charlie Kirk is now in custody. Thank you to the local and state authorities in Utah for your partnership with @fbi. We will provide updates when able,” Patel posted on X.

Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot Wednesday when speaking at Utah Valley University. President Donald Trump announced his death Wednesday afternoon, writing, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.”

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, a Republican, said Wednesday, “I want to be very clear that this is a political assassination.”

Earlier Wednesday afternoon, shortly after the news of Kirk’s shooting, Patel wrote, “We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.”

“Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation,” Patel had added.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
