Laken Riley’s Stepdad Reads One Of Her Last Journal Entries In Court

The stepdad of murdered Georgia nursing student Laken Riley read one of her final journal entries in court after her illegal immigrant killer was convicted on Wednesday.

Venezuelan Jose Ibarra, 26, was found guilty on 10 charges, including murder, kidnapping, and aggravated assault with intent to rape Riley. Riley, who was attending Augusta University, was killed by Ibarra while she was running near the campus of the University of Georgia on February 22, 2024.

Riley’s murder sparked outrage across the country over the Biden administration’s border policies, and during the trial, it was revealed that Ibarra, who has ties to the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang, was flown to Georgia at the taxpayers’ expense.

Shortly after the guilty verdict and before Ibarra’s sentencing, Riley’s stepdad read a journal entry the 22-year-old nursing had written on December 17, 2023, just two months before she was murdered.

Riley began the entry, “To my future husband, as silly as I feel writing this, my old small group leader once recommended it, and so here I am. To my future husband, I want you to know that I am thinking about you and working every day to become the best wife I can be and working through my current relationships to best prepare me for ours and our kids one day. I’m focusing on God and what he defines as a faithful Christian wife, and so that I can best embody those characteristics.”

“I pray that you know it is with my full faith and trust in God that I know this relationship has been handcrafted by him,” Riley added. “I pray that we continue to glorify the Lord and prioritize him in every aspect of our lives and raise our future family to be God-fearing Christians as well. And pray God is the center of our relationship as it is a gift from him. I thank him for you before I even know you and can’t wait to love you in the best way I know how for the rest of our lives.”

“I pray you know and feel the importance of my love and hopes for our relationship,” the journal entry continued. “No matter what challenges we face, I pray that our trust in God and love for one another overrules the obstacle. May our relationship last forever. Your future wife, Laken.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
