Lara Trump Bows Out From Consideration For U.S. Senate Seat

Former Republican National Committee (RNC) co-chair Lara Trump said in a statement on Saturday night that she has decided to withdraw her name from consideration for replacing Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) in the U.S. Senate after President-elect Donald Trump tapped Rubio to serve as his next Secretary of State.

“After an incredible amount of thought, contemplation, and encouragement from so many, I have decided to remove my name from consideration for the United States Senate,” she said in a statement posted to X.

“I could not have been more honored to serve as RNC co-chair during the most high-stakes election of our lifetime and I’m truly humbled by the unbelievable support shown to me by the people of our country, and here in the great state of Florida,” she continued. “I have read so many of your kind messages and I cannot thank you enough.”

Lara Trump said that she had a “big announcement” planned that she will share with the public next month. It was unclear if the announcement was connected to the new incoming Trump administration.

“I remain incredibly passionate about public service and look forward to serving our country again sometime in the future,” she said. “In the meantime, I wish Governor DeSantis the best of luck with this appointment.”

Trump was asked last week if he thought that DeSantis would pick Lara Trump for the role, to which he responded, “No, I don’t.”

“Ron’s doing a good job, that’s his choice — nothing to do with me” Trump said.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
