‘Legally Blonde’ Star Recalls Being Chosen As Jury Foreman After Role As Law School Student

“Legally Blonde” star Reese Witherspoon recalled one time she was chosen as jury foreman after people really believed she went to law school because of her role in the hit 2001 movie.

Speaking on BBC’s “The Graham Norton Show,” the 48-year-old actress said, like many of us, she was picked for jury duty and didn’t really want to serve. But when she ended up having to do her civic duty, her portrayal of law school student Elle Woods helped her score a high-powered role in the jury.

“Listen, I did not want to do jury duty,” Witherspoon said. “But I remember it was probably seven years after ‘Legally Blonde,’ I got called for jury duty and it was in Beverly Hills. And I thought, ‘Surely they’re not gonna pick me.’ They picked me for a long trial, y’all. It was probably two weeks.”

“No listen, it was two solid weeks, every day going in,” she added, revealing it was a dog bite case. “And then we went to deliberation and so at the very end they say, ‘OK, well somebody in this group has to be the foreman.’ And they all unanimously are like, ‘Her.’ Me!”

“And I was like, ‘why did you pick me?’” Witherspoon continued. “And they were all like, ‘You went to law school.’ I was like, ‘Y’all, this is really upsetting. I definitely did not go to law school, I didn’t finish college.’ I played a lawyer in a movie once, but they fully made me the foreman and I started realizing … people don’t know much about the law. And if you get picked for jury duty, please do it because, honestly, some bad stuff goes on down there y’all.”

In November, the superstar actress made headlines when she responded to rumors that she was dating “Yellowstone” star Kevin Costner, as previously reported.

“This story is completely fabricated and not true,” a representative for Witherspoon told Page Six.

The rumors started after Australian publication New Idea reported that an insider said, “Kevin’s had his eye on Reese ever since she won her Oscar, but he didn’t count on finding her absolutely charming as hell.”

“They’ve been calling and texting on the pretense of finding the perfect script, but it’s becoming almost a daily occurrence,” the alleged insider added.

“No-one is surprised that Kevin and Reese have hit it off,” the alleged source continued. “They’re extremely compatible.”

Last year, Witherspoon announced she and ex-husband Jim Toth were separating after 11 years of marriage, just days before their 12th wedding anniversary, the Blast noted.
