Manhunt Underway For Arizona Suspect Who Threatened To Shoot Trump As He Visits Border

Law enforcement in Cochise County, Arizona, is urgently searching for a 66-year-old man who allegedly threatened to shoot former President Donald Trump as Trump visits the border state on Thursday.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office released a poster of Ronald Lee Syrvud on Thursday, saying he is wanted for alleged threats to kill a presidential candidate, News Nation correspondent Ali Bradley reported. Syrvud has outstanding warrants stemming from a DUI in Wisconsin, a hit-and-run in another Arizona county, and felony failure to register as a sex offender.

Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels told the Daily Mail that “based on the threats made” by Syrvud, authorities have ramped up security, especially considering that Trump’s speech at the border later on Thursday is “in an open venue.”

“We have zero tolerance for any kind of threats or intents of violence, so we’ll find him. He’ll go to jail,” Dannels said.

“He’s a registered sex offender here in Cochise County, and we were looking for him. He’s out of compliance as part of his violations. So we’re looking for him on that,” the sheriff added. “We’re going to arrest him on that. But also the fact his pulse was obviously directed toward this event. So we want to talk to him about that.”

The alleged threats come just six weeks after Trump was shot by a would-be assassin while speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania. Trump is visiting the U.S. southern border on Thursday before heading to Glendale on Friday for a rally. Trump held his first outdoor rally since the assassination attempt on Wednesday where he stood behind bulletproof glass that was installed at the behest of the Secret Service.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
