Marvel star Jeremy Renner will open up about what he went through following his near-fatal snow plow accident on January 1, 2023, near his Nevada home, in an upcoming memoir titled “My Next Breath,” out April 29.
“Jeremy writes in blistering detail about his accident and the aftermath,” a synopsis about the 54-year-old actor’s memoir read, per People magazine.
“This retelling is not merely a gruesome account of what happened to him; it’s a call to action and a forged companionship between reader and author as Jeremy recounts his recovery journey and reflects on the impact of his suffering,” the synopsis added.
Publisher Flatiron Books has called the memoir “gripping,” “inspiring,” and said that it promises to be “a testament to the human spirit and its capacity to endure, evolve and find purpose in the face of unimaginable adversity,” the outlet noted.
Earlier this week, Renner hinted about his book title and what fans could expect in his memoir.
“Taking care of business; this office of mine has been such a blessing and absolute champion for wellness….,” Renner captioned his Instagram post. “Hyperbaric at 2 atmos has been a staple in my life for 20 months now. 02 is essential for our life and our longevity…. Pull up a chair and let’s discuss all things good in life today !!! #MyNextBreath.”
Speaking to the outlet about the memoir, Renner said, “two years after my accident I now find myself now surrounded by love, more connected to the people around me and filled with gratitude. I’m hopeful that by sharing my story, it might help anyone out there who is facing their own moment where it feels like the odds are against them.”
On the two year anniversary of the day he almost died in that accident, Renner wished everyone a “Happy New Year” and said that he was ringing in his second “ReBirthday.” Two years earlier, he had been nearly crushed under a 14,300-pound snowcat in the accident. Following the accident, which left him with more than 30 broken bones, he underwent extensive therapy in order to recover.
“I send out my love, respect, and gratitude for the army of people that it took to put me back together again,” Renner captioned his post on Instagram, which included an image of him in the hospital after the accident.
“Thank you to each and every nurse, doctor, first responder … I literally owe you my life,” he added. “All my heart goes out to my beautiful, brave nephew and the angels (my neighbors) who jumped to my aid and endured the chaos for 45 long minutes on the icy asphalt New Years morning. I’m so sorry [for] all the haunting images I imprinted on you all (I’ll spare you all from the meat grinding images) …”
“My gratitude list is very long … With the amount of love and prayers that flooded in from you all around the world (needing each and everyone of them), my family never leaving my side, with some divine intervention, a bit of luck and a whole lot of miracles … I stand strong again,” the Marvel star continued. “More Open. More Loved. More Connected. And f**king BLESSED to take my next step, to take MY NEXT BREATH. Thank you with every fiber and cell in my body. I love you ALL”
