Patrick Mahomes Calls Out League For 3-Game Stretch Over Christmas Holiday

Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes called out the NFL over his team’s upcoming three-game stretch over the Christmas holiday.

Speaking to members of the press, the Super Bowl-winning QB admitted he’s worried about the wear and tear on his body after the league scheduled three games over an 11-day period, starting with a road trip on Sunday, December 15 against the Cleveland Browns.

“It’s not a good feeling,” Mahomes said, per The Associated Press. “You never want to play this amount of games in this short of time.”

“It’s not great for your body,” he added. “But at the end of the day it’s your job, your profession, you have to come to work and do it.”

“All you can do is focus on the game,” Mahomes continued. “The practice you have that day. I try to prepare my body all year long for this stretch. That’s tailoring my workouts, tailoring how you practice and prepare, and the coaches do a great job of taking care of us on the practice field. We practice as hard as anybody, but they know how to dial it back when needed.”

After the Browns game, the Chiefs play against the Texans in a home game on December 21, and then on Christmas Day, they travel to Pennsylvania to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers, with a stretch of 4 days between the games, compared to the usual 6 or 7 days to recover.

The Chiefs aren’t the only team with the crazy, three games over an 11-day schedule ending on Christmas Day — the Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers, and Houston Texans will also have to endure the short turnaround.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he’s taking a measured approach to getting his team ready for the 11-day stretch, the AP noted.

“It’s a unique situation. You just have to manage it,” Reid said. “It is what it is. You make the best of it. The main thing is you get guys ready for the game. Give them a chance to get ready for the game. They’re going to do whatever you present to them. You try to help them out with that. Right now we have a normal week right here. We have to take care of business here.”

The Christmas Day games are part of Netflix’s doubleheader as the streaming platform dives into live sporting events.

The games will be star-studded, with the queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, kicking things off on December 25 for the Chiefs vs Steelers game. Carey will deliver a taped performance of her all-time number one hit holiday song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” during a game opening performance, TMZ reported.

Beyonce will perform songs for the halftime game in Houston from her country album “Cowboy Carter,” when the Texans host the Ravens later that day, CBS Morning noted.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
