President-elect Donald Trump is expected to tap Stephen Miller as his White House deputy chief of staff for policy.
CNN reported that the announcement is expected in the coming days.
Miller was Trump’s top immigration adviser during his first term and was also his top speechwriter.
He is known for being a hardliner on immigration and is one of the leading minds behind Trump’s mass deportation plans.
Miller also supports cutting back on legal immigration and restricting allowing people into the country who are from countries that are known to be hotbeds for Islamic terrorism.
After serving during Trump’s first term in office, Miller went on to create America First Legal, an advisory group that has spent the last four years fighting against the Biden administration.

“Any activists who doubt President Trump’s resolve in the slightest are making a drastic error: Trump will unleash the vast arsenal of federal powers to implement the most spectacular migration crackdown,” Miller said last year.
His expected appointment was widely celebrated by Trump supporters.
Trump has signaled with the picks he has made thus far that he is going to be a hardliner on immigration and foreign policy.
The president-elect has chosen Mike Waltz (R-FL) as his national security adviser, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) as his Secretary of State, and Rep. Elise Stefanik as U.N. Ambassador.
Trump tapped campaign manager Susie Wiles to be his chief of staff, former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) to be the head of the EPA, and reportedly picked South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as the secretary of Homeland Security.
