Trump Responds to Israel Bombing in Qatar

After an Israeli strike in Doha, Qatar, targeting Hamas officials, President Donald Trump said he told Qatari leaders such an incident won’t happen again.

Trump says he spoke to Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the monarch of Qatar, and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani after Israel carried out the strike and “thanked them for their support and friendship to our Country.”

Trump “assured” the Qatari leaders “such a thing will not happen again on their soil,” the president posted on Truth Social on Tuesday afternoon.

Trump confirmed that Israel notified the U.S. of the planned strike, and he immediately asked Steve Witkoff, U.S. special envoy to the Middle East, to notify the Qataris, but it was, according to Trump, “unfortunately, too late to stop the attack.”

The Israel Defense Forces announced it had conducted “a precise strike targeting the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization” in Doha on Tuesday morning. Senior Hamas officials have long been thought to run some operations out of Qatar.

The targeted Hamas leaders “have led the terrorist organization’s operations, are directly responsible for the brutal Oct. 7 massacre, and have been orchestrating and managing the war against the state of Israel,” according to the IDF.

Israel said it took steps prior to the strike to “mitigate harm to civilians.”

“Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a Sovereign Nation and close Ally of the United States, that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker Peace, does not advance Israel or America’s goals,” Trump wrote on social media, reiterating a While House statement issued earlier in the day by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

“I want ALL of the Hostages, and bodies of the dead, released, and this War to END, NOW,” Trump said, adding that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the strike.

“The Prime Minister told me that he wants to make Peace,” Trump said. “I believe this unfortunate incident could serve as an opportunity for PEACE.”

Hamas says the attack killed five of its members but did not succeed in killing the Hamas negotiation team stationed in Qatar.

The strike came one day after a terrorist attack in Jerusalem left six people dead. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said Israeli leaders think the strike in Doha was “fully justified “ because “it was this Hamas leadership that initiated and organized the Oct. 7 massacre, and—since then—has not ceased from launching murderous operations against the State of Israel and its citizens, including taking responsibility for the murder of our citizens in yesterday’s terrorist attack in Jerusalem.”

The Israeli strikes also come just two days after Trump issued a “last warning” to Hamas to accept the terms of ceasefire and hostage deal. Trump did not explain the consequences of Hamas not accepting a deal.

The latest proposal reportedly calls for the release of all the hostages, living and dead, on the first day of the ceasefire in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. Negotiations for an end to the war would then ensue.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
