Vance Tells ABC What Its Trump-Kamala Debate ‘Didn’t Talk Nearly Enough About’

Shortly after the conclusion of the Tuesday presidential debate hosted by ABC News, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) opened up about how he believes the event was lacking.

Vance shared his critique in a brief appearance on ABC during its programming that followed the match-up between former President Donald Trump, who picked Vance to be his running mate, and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“This debate didn’t talk nearly enough about the fact that Americans are struggling because they can’t afford groceries, they can’t afford housing, and their kids are dying of fentanyl overdoses because Kamala Harris has let the Mexican drug cartels take over the southern border,” Vance said.

“This is a disgrace what’s going on in our country,” he continued, adding, “… and we could do so much better if we just had better leadership. We’ve got the best workers, the most beautiful country, the best natural resources, but Kamala Harris’ leadership is squandering the great benefits of this country. It’s why we’ve got to get back to Donald Trump’s leadership.”

Harris and Trump clashed on such issues as abortion, the economy, national security, and border security. The moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, have faced intense criticism from the Right for challenging Trump on his claims while neglecting to do the same kind of fact-checking against Harris.

Following the ABC debate, Harris’ team called for a second face-off in October. Responding on Fox News, Trump said Harris wanted a second debate “because she lost.” Pressed by host Sean Hannity whether he would agree to another match, Trump said he might be inclined to do it “if it was on a fair network.” Trump previously floated three debates, but Harris would only agree to one.

Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, Trump’s co-campaign managers, said in a post-debate statement that people “saw President Trump lay out his bold vision of America and how he would continue to build upon the successes of his first term by supercharging the economy, securing the border, and stopping crime from ravaging communities across the country.”

They also said, “Conversely, Kamala’s vision of America was a dark reminder of the oppressive, big government policies of Joe Biden that she wants to continue. High inflation, a porous border that allows criminals and terrorists to flood across, and being soft on crime — that is what Kamala represents.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
