Vance Walks Up To Reporters Waiting On Tarmac For Harris: ‘Thought You Guys Might Get Lonely Because The VP Doesn’t Answer Questions’

Ohio Senator and Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance was on the same tarmac as Vice President Kamala Harris in Wisconsin on Wednesday and felt some sympathy for the group of reporters covering the Democratic nominee. It’s been more than two weeks since President Joe Biden dropped out and passed the mantle to Harris and the vice president has yet to do a major interview.

Both Vance’s and Harris’ planes landed in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, around the same time as both candidates hit the campaign trail in the swing state. Vance took the opportunity to address the reporters waiting for Harris and called on the Democrat to answer more questions from the press.

“I figured I’d come by … hopefully it’s going to be my plane in a few months,” Vance said pointing back at Air Force Two. “I also thought you guys may get lonely because the vice president doesn’t answer questions from reporters and hasn’t for seventeen days.”

“Have they given you guys an explanation for why she won’t take questions from reporters?” he asked. “Nobody? Okay, great. Well, I hope that she’s changed her mind because it would be good for the American people, and I think it would be good for you all if she actually ran a real campaign instead of one from her basement with a teleprompter.”

Asked by one reporter what he wants to hear from Harris, Vance replied, “I’d love her to just answer what she wants to do and also explain why every single position she has has changed.”

Harris has been blasted for seemingly avoiding tough questions from the media after she locked up the Democratic nomination. The vice president and her newly tapped running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, are at the beginning of a campaign tour that will take them to each of the seven battleground states, but Harris doesn’t have any long-form interviews planned as of Wednesday.

Harris and Walz appeared together for the first time as presidential and vice presidential nominees in Philadelphia for a rally on Tuesday night, hours after Harris picked Walz as her running mate. During the rally, Harris said Walz’s resume next to Vance’s is “like a matchup between the Varsity team and the JV squad.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
