Viral ‘Trump’ Dance Takes Over NFL, UFC

NFL players from across the league have celebrated their individual victories by doing what’s been labeled the “Trump” dance, in honor of President-elect Donald Trump, which became a viral hit during the 2024 election.

Video of Trump dancing to the Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.” at his numerous presidential rallies led to supporters making videos of themselves doing the same dance moves, making the “Trump” dance a viral sensation that is now showing up at sporting events everywhere.

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers did the “Trump” dance moves when he scored a touchdown on Sunday, after he caught a 23-yard pass late in the third quarter to give the Raiders 12 points against the Miami Dolphin’s 17.

And while those watching the game live saw Bowers’ dance in the end zone — and then a shot of Raiders’ owner Mark Davis reacting to the TD — the victory celebration seemed to be missing from the post “NFL on CBS” made on X, OutKick noted.

The social media post cut showed the 23-yard catch and then cut straight to the shot of Davis in his suite.

After the game at a press conference, a reporter asked Bowers about the dance and he said that, “I’ve seen everyone do it … I watched the UFC fight last night and Jon Jones did it. I like watching UFC so I saw it, and thought it was cool.”

But Bowers wasn’t the only NFL player rocking the dance moves, which Trump made famous while dancing to the “Y.M.C.A” by making two fists and twisting his hips.

During the Detroit Lions game Za’Darius Smith and Malcolm Rodriguez celebrated their team’s defensive stop on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, also by doing the funny Trump-esque dance moves.

Tennessee Titan’s players Calvin Ridley and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine busted out the Trump moves ahead of what appeared to be a touchdown during the team’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

A week earlier — shortly after Trump’s victory against Vice President Kamala Harris — it was San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa who first did the Trump dance moves on the field following a sack of a Tampa Bay Buccaneers player, the Post noted.

The viral dance even made an appearance on Saturday at Madison Square Garden during the UFC Championship, when Jon “Bones” Jones rocked the moves from the ring in his victory against Stipe Miocic, USA Today noted.

After Jones won, he stood in the ring, did the Trump dance, and then pointed to President-elect Donald Trump — who was in the audience with several supporters, including Kid Rock, X founder Elon Musk, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Tulsi Gabbard.

Jones later told members of the press, “I’m proud to be a great American champion. I’m proud to be a Christian American champion.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
