The White House dropped a new official portrait for First Lady Melania Trump on Monday, showing her in a black-and-white snap that was taken in the Yellow Oval Room.
“The official portrait of First Lady Melania Trump was captured on January 21, 2024, in the Yellow Oval Room of the residence by esteemed photographer Régine Mahaux,” a press release to The Daily Wire from the White House read.
In the photo, the first lady posed wearing a black suit with a white button-up shirt, with the Washington Monument visible in the background through a window.
The reaction on social media was swift, with one person after another using the fire emoji and more in reaction to posts on X showing the official portrait.
“WOW! This is the official portrait of First Lady Melania Trump. Easily the most stunning First Lady in American history,” one person wrote.
Another person added, “First lady Melania Trump’s official portrait has been released! Is she the best looking First Lady we have ever had?”
While a third person wrote, “The official portrait of First Lady Melania Trump is revealed. Bada** has entered the chat.”
Melania recently made headlines when she stepped out in a custom double-breasted navy coat — with a matching boater hat — for President Donald Trump’s second inauguration and swearing-in ceremony as 47th President of the United States. She completed the look with black leather gloves and matching dark blue suede pumps, as previously reported.
The first lady’s attire for the day was thanks to American designers Adam Lippes and Eric Javits, according to FLOTUS Report on X, the official social media account for “First Lady news & style reporting.”
The same social media account posted a behind-the-scenes look at Javits working on the hat.
“Exclusive look at @EricJavits making the iconic hat that Melania Trump is wearing today #FashionoftheFirstLady,” the post read.
Trump even teased the first lady about her outfit — specifically her hat — and claimed that “she almost blew away” when conditions in D.C. got blustery on Inauguration Day.
In a video from The Daily Wire, Trump made the comments as he gave remarks to supporters shortly after he was sworn in again as president.
“I shouldn’t say this. I’m going to get hell when I say this, but her [Melania’s] feet are absolutely aching. You know those heels,” Trump told the room, as the first lady lost her stoic composure and a huge grin spread across her face.
“And we thought we were leaving, going home,” he added, noting that’s when it was suggested to him to go and give remarks to some more supporters. “And then we went out to the helicopter just prior to this and said goodbye [to former President Joe Biden and Jill Biden], which is custom, and the wind is blowing like crazy. “And with the hat that she’s wearing, she almost blew away. We almost lost our First Lady.”
