$30 Million Venture Fund Launched To Help Win The Battle Against Abortion

A coalition of pro-life advocates launched a new $30 million venture fund on Tuesday with the goal of shaping public policy and building a culture that values “the sanctity of every human life.”
Pro-life advocates and philanthropists announced the creation of two new national efforts, the Life Leadership Conference and the Pro-Life Venture Fund, to help guide the pro-life movement as it navigates the post Roe v. Wade political landscape. The efforts come as leftist activists have been successful in enshrining abortion in the constitutions of states like Ohio and Arizona.
“The dignity and worth of the human person is too important to settle for political and cultural forces simply acknowledging that abortion is a tragedy. What’s more, the battle over abortion never was, and must never be allowed to become, simply about making sure the issue is delegated to the right government actors,” a memo on the initiatives shared with The Daily Wire says. “Our coalition will work tirelessly to provide genuine protection to unborn babies and practical assistance to pregnant women in need. We will do our part to help make America truly a land of justice for all.”
The memo was written by Leonard Leo, the executive vice president of the Federalist Society, Princeton University professor Robert George, and philanthropist Ray Ruddy.
The memo specifically discusses the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the new challenges that have emerged as a result.
“It should come as no surprise that, with the passage of time and changes in circumstance, old strategies for building public support and advancing the pro-life cause in legislatures and courts need to be rethought and, in some cases, revised,” the memo says.
The conference is meant to “ensure that the pro-life movement’s ideals are fully and faithfully operationalized, to the end of winning more, and losing and compromising less,” the memo adds.
The $30 million in the venture fund will be spent on projects “that will actually reduce the killing of unborn children” and provide resources to women considering ending the lives of their unborn children.
The Life Leadership conference will be led by David Bereit, the founder of the pro-life organization 40 Days for Life.
Bereit will increase membership in the conference, create avenues of communication for the groups involved, underwrite research and polling, and “wage effective campaigns in pursuit of a flourishing culture of life,” according to the memo.
“I’m humbled and honored to have been asked by top national pro-life leaders and philanthropists to launch and lead a new movement-wide collaborative effort: the Life Leadership Conference. This consortium will unite and empower pro-life organizations, leaders, donors, and grassroots advocates,” Bereit posted to Facebook on Tuesday.
Bereit said he would focus the work of the conference on building “a culture that upholds the sanctity of every human life.”
