‘A Deal Is Going To Be Made With Everyone’: Trump Speaks After Dropping Most Tariffs For 90 Days

President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he will come to trade agreements “with everyone,” including China, after he announced a “90-day pause” on tariffs while increasing the tax on Chinese goods to 125%.
Trump announced the tariff “pause” in a post on Truth Social Wednesday afternoon, saying the move is due in part to numerous countries being willing to negotiate without retaliating with tariffs on U.S. goods. In a gaggle of reporters, the president stated that he was hopeful trade talks would be successful in the coming weeks.
“A deal is going to be made with China,” Trump said. “A deal is going to be made with every one of them, and there will be fair deals. I just want fair.”

A White House official confirmed to The Daily Wire that every country, aside from China, hit by U.S. tariffs will now see a baseline 10% tariff. Canada and Mexico will not be affected by the 10% baseline tariff, but the 25% tariff Trump previously imposed on certain products from both nations will remain.
The European Union, which voted earlier on Wednesday to retaliate with tariffs on U.S. goods, was also granted a tariff reprieve since its retaliatory tariffs had not gone into effect yet, according to the White House official.
The president reiterated that he believes China “wants to make a deal,” but they’re struggling to come to the negotiating table because “they’re proud people.”
“President Xi is a proud man. I know him very well, and they don’t know how quite to go about it, but they’ll figure it out,” Trump said.
China was hit with a 125% tariff on Wednesday because it retaliated with an 84% tax on U.S. goods following the rollout of Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs, according to Trump, who called China’s actions disrespectful.
“At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable,” the president wrote.
