‘A Mandate For Common Sense’: Michael Knowles Talks Trump’s Massive Electoral Victory At CPAC

Daily Wire host Michael Knowles discussed the major implications of the broad coalition behind President Donald Trump’s election victory during a speech at the 2025 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.

Knowles celebrated Trump’s electoral college and popular vote win, highlighting the “swaths” of support the president received at the ballot box in November. According to Knowles, the election results show that the American people are fed up with radical leftist ideology and are yearning for a return to “common sense.”

“I think the big difference this year is that we won, and we won the popular vote,” Knowles told the CPAC crowd. “Most voters in this country voted for Donald Trump — huge swaths of every demographic, including groups that Democrats have had a lockdown on for decades. We’re talking about a historic proportion of black male voters, almost half of Hispanic voters, something like 50 percent of women over 45, even — this one really shocked me — 40 percent of women under the age of 30.”

The Daily Wire host said the Republicans’ victories in the presidential, Senate, and House races show that the American people have given Trump and the GOP “a clear mandate.”

“And it was a mandate for common sense,” Knowles added. “That’s the only way to explain this broad coalition of people who usually argue with each other: Republicans, disaffected Democrats, conservatives, liberals, people across both sexes, and all ages, and all races.”

Knowles argued that Republicans made big electoral gains across the country in 2024 because “the Democrats have lost the common sense.” Along with controlling the White House, Republicans also hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate and a 218-215 majority in the House. Knowles suggested that voters empowering the new Trump administration is a response to “uni-party elites [who] have limited political discourse to exclude the common sense policies that people actually want.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
