Brit Hume Says Trump Delivered ‘Most Effective’ Address Ever, Is ‘Political Colossus Of Our Time’

Fox News journalist and political analyst Brit Hume had a positive reaction to President Donald Trump’s speech before a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night, calling it one of the most “effective” he’d seen in five decades of covering politics.
“This was the most boisterous, the longest, the most partisan speech I’ve ever heard a president give in this kind of setting, and I go back about maybe 50 years on this,” Hume said. “I also think it may have been the most effective. If you ever doubted that Donald Trump is the colossus, the political colossus of our time and our nation, this night and this speech should’ve put that to rest.”
Hume also called out the behavior of Democrats during Trump’s address, which included Rep. Al Green (D-TX) being escorted out of the chamber for his disruptions shortly after the speech began. The Dems who stayed remained silent and refused to stand during key moments, holding small signs with words of protest.
“The Democrats seem to be falling into trap after trap after trap as he recognized people and celebrated the people he pointed to in the gallery and their stories, while the Democrats sat glumly on their hands through all of that. It was a terrible look,” Hume continued. “Al Green’s attempt to disrupt the speech was a bad look for the Democrats. This was pretty powerful stuff, politically speaking, as powerful as I think I’ve heard.”

Trump broke the record for the longest address to a joint session of Congress after speaking for one hour and 40 minutes. The speech included personal stories about Americans along with a list of his administration’s accomplishments and promises for the future.
His speech singled out specific individuals, including January Littlejohn, who Trump said was kept in the dark as her 13-year-old daughter was “secretly transitioned” by her school, and the family of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old woman brutally killed by an illegal immigrant. Trump also mentioned Corey Comperatore, who was fatally shot during the assassination attempt on Trump at a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
One emotional moment came when Trump made 13-year-old brain cancer survivor Devarjaye “DJ” Daniels an honorary member of the U.S. Secret Service.
