Definition Of Insanity? Andrew Cuomo Running Again After Primary Loss To Socialist Mamdani.

Disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) announced on Monday that he was officially launching an independent campaign to become the next mayor of New York City.

Cuomo lost the primary to self-described Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani in late June, and rumors have swirled since then about the potential for him to run as an independent or third-party candidate.

“In it to win it,” Cuomo captioned his video.

“Hello. I’m Andrew Cuomo,” he said in the attached video. “And unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know that the Democratic primary did not go the way I had hoped.”

Cuomo offered his thanks to the New Yorkers who had voted for him before turning the attack on Mamdani: “Thank you for believing in me and in my agenda and my experience, and I am truly sorry that I let you down. But as my grandfather used to say, when you get knocked down, learn the lesson and pick yourself back up and get in the game — and that is what I’m going to do.”

“The fight to save our city isn’t over,” he continued, noting that barely over one-tenth of the city’s voters had cast a ballot in the June primary. “The general election is in November, and I am in it to win it. My opponent, Mr. Mamdani, offers slick slogans but no real solutions. We need a city with lower rent, safer streets, where buying your first home is once again possible, where child care won’t bankrupt you.”

But according to a new poll — shared by The Manhattan Institute’s Jesse Arm — Cuomo’s support is sitting at 24% to Mamdani’s 40%. Current Mayor Eric Adams, who initially won as a Democrat, is polling at 15% and Republican Curtis Sliwa is pulling 14% support.

As Arm noted, if the ultimate goal was to stop a socialist from gaining power in New York City, then the obvious solution was for two or more of the remaining candidates to join forces.

“If Cuomo & Adams joined forces, they could beat Mamdani. If Cuomo, Adams, & Sliwa joined forces, they would beat Mamdani. [If] these politicians refuse to consolidate NYC’s anti-socialist majority—history will not forget them,” he said.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
