EXCLUSIVE: Trump Admin Upgrades Social Security Telephone Services

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—Under President Donald Trump, the Social Security Administration is upgrading its telephone services using a modern telephone platform available at all offices nationwide, The Daily Signal has learned.
“President Trump is leading the charge to modernize the federal government and make it more efficient,” White House spokeswoman Liz Huston told The Daily Signal. “With [artificial intelligence]-enabled improvements and optimization of the call-back assist feature, the Social Security Administration is able to serve more customers than ever before on its national 800 number.”
The change will allow the Social Security Administration to more effectively serve Americans, the White House said.
“Thanks to these improvements, more customers who call SSA for service are now able to get through, instead of repeatedly facing dropped calls or busy signals, which was a frequent problem under the previous administration,” Huston said.
Data shows the change has already yielded results. In fiscal year 2024, on average, SSA customers waited 342 days for a hearing decision. In fiscal 2025, customers have had to wait 285 days.
The wait time to speak to a representative has decreased from 27.6 minutes in 2024 to 20.3 minutes in 2025.
This is part of an ongoing Trump administration effort to improve Social Security access, countering the left-wing media narrative that the president is cutting entitlement programs.
The White House announced digital access to Social Security numbers on April 25, The Daily Signal first reported.
The Social Security Administration’s new digital Social Security number feature allows account holders to have secure digital access to his or her Social Security number. The new feature will be available early this summer.
