‘Grateful to God’: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Opens Up About Providence Leading Him to His Current Position

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. believes that his appointment to lead the Department of Health and Human Services was providential, he told Lara Trump on Fox News Saturday.
Kennedy cited his faith as the foremost reason for his passion to reshape the health and wellness standards in America.
“You know, I literally spent years praying every morning that I would be in a position where I could address this chronic disease epidemic in kids, and that God would put me in, you know, a place where I could do that. And now I’m in that place,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy previously said his conversion began at age 28 after a long battle with heroin addiction.
Raised Catholic before falling into addiction, Kennedy has since rediscovered his faith, he told conservative commentator Sage Steele on a podcast appearance in May 2024.
Now, clean from drugs, Kennedy has spent the last five months spearheading the Make America Healthy Again movement. He has repeatedly said that he seeks to end the chronic disease epidemic among America’s youth.
“I was raised in a house with 11 brothers and sisters, and I had somewhere around 70 first cousins,” he recalled when speaking to Trump. “I know what a healthy child looks like. And then I started seeing children, this generation of kids coming up that was just damaged, that was suffering from autoimmune diseases like juvenile diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis. I was looking around and saying, why is nobody talking about this?”
Kennedy contrasted his current staff with the HHS leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’m very grateful to the president,” he added. “You know, he’s allowed me to populate this agency with extraordinary scientists. You can’t have real science if you don’t have integrity, if you don’t have a free flow of information.”
His staff are “all against this regime of control, of centralized control of information, of censorship, of using this agency to manipulate the truth in order to achieve an outcome of compliance among Americans.”
“There’s all kinds of biases, and we need to have a system in place that will account for those biases, and that will produce the best gold standard science for Americans and evidence based medicine,” he explained.
“The vast majority of people who work for this agency are extraordinary public servants,” Kennedy said. “But the leadership of this agency, for many years, has been bankrupt, morally, and I would say scientifically.”
Kennedy praised the food industry for cooperating with his new agenda at HHS, specifically mentioning companies such as Kraft, Starbucks, and Tysons.
“We’re revolutionizing this agency. We’re bringing in AI,” he said. “We’ve had a flood of extraordinary leaders from Silicon Valley, some of them have literally walked away from billion dollar businesses to come and work in humble jobs here to improve the delivery of health care, to improve the integrity of our—and the credibility of our science, to give individual Americans control over their health.”
Kennedy noted that when he walks down the street, mothers often stop him, thanking him for his leadership and the progress he has directed.
Kennedy added that he is “grateful to God” that President Donald Trump will keep the nation from following a “prearranged trajectory towards destruction.”
