‘He’s In Good Shape’: Trump Speaks With Bongino After Flare-Up With Bondi

President Donald Trump said on Sunday he believes FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is “in good shape” following a reported clash with Attorney General Pam Bondi over her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

The assurance came after The Daily Wire cited a source on Friday who said Bongino threatened to quit the bureau if Bondi stayed on as attorney general after the Department of Justice (DOJ) claimed it had no evidence that Epstein had a client list, blackmailed powerful people, or was murdered.

“I spoke to him today,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews. “Dan Bongino, very good guy. I’ve known him a long time. I’ve done his show many, many times. And he sounded terrific actually. No, I think he’s in good shape.”

Bongino, who left his job as a conservative talk show host to join the FBI, has not publicly commented on the situation as of press time, but Trump did post about it on Truth Social on Saturday. The president expressed support for Bondi and seemed to dismiss the uproar within the “Make America Great Again” movement spurred by skepticism that the DOJ is being fully transparent about the Epstein files.

“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’ They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and ‘selfish people’ are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein,” Trump said on Truth Social.

After suggesting the Epstein files are yet another conspiracy from the Left, Trump added, “LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT! The 2020 Election was Rigged and Stolen, and they tried to do the same thing in 2024 — That’s what she is looking into as AG, and much more. One year ago our Country was DEAD, now it’s the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World. Let’s keep it that way, and not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Bondi was spotted in the a suite with Trump and others at the FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey earlier on Sunday. A photographer even caught the moment Trump appeared to be giving his attorney general a thumbs up.

FBI Director Kash Patel broke his silence on Saturday amid rumors that he might also consider leaving if Bondi stayed, saying in a post to X that the “conspiracy theories” were not true and that he would continue to serve under Trump as long as the president wanted him to be there.

Democrats in Congress say they will introduce measures this week to press for the disclosure of files reported to Epstein, a wealthy financier and convicted sex offender who was found dead at the age of 66 in his New York City jail cell in 2019 after being arrested on sex trafficking charges involving young girls. Trump had indicated during his latest campaign he was open to disclosing such information.

“Why are the Epstein files still hidden? Who are the rich & powerful being protected?” asked Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) in a post on X. “On Tuesday, I’m introducing an amendment to force a vote demanding the FULL Epstein files be released to the public. The Speaker must call a vote & put every Congress member on record.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
