House Speaker Johnson Orders Democratic Congressman Removed From Trump Speech

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., ordered a Democratic congressman removed from the chamber of the House of Representatives as President Donald Trump delivered a speech Tuesday night to a joint session of Congress.

Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, repeatedly interrupted Trump and raised his cane in the air.

“Members are directed to uphold and maintain the decorum in the House and cease any further disruptions,” Johnson said. “That’s your warning.”

He directed Green to take a seat, and when Green failed to do so, he ordered the sergeant-at-arms to “remove this gentleman from the chamber.”

Green spoke to the White House traveling press after he was removed from the chamber.

He said that before he was escorted out of the chamber, he yelled at Trump that the president had “no mandate” to cut Medicaid.

“It’s worth it to let people know that there are some people who are going to stand up” to Trump, Green said.

He said he didn’t know whether he faced any formal punishment for his protest in the chamber.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
