How The Trump Team Is Making Orange Juice Great Again

A move to stem back bureaucracy and regulations on citrus will boost domestic orange juice supply here in the United States, according to the Trump administration.
In a joint effort between Agriculture Secretary Rollins and Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary, the standard of identity, known as SOI, will be updated to allow millions more U.S. oranges to be used in production, thereby limiting our need for imports from other nations, namely Brazil.
“Nearly 2/3 of your breakfast orange juice in the U.S. is imported from foreign countries,” Rollins noted in a post to X. “That ends NOW — we are bringing back domestic production of OJ stronger than ever before!”
Makary emphasized the sentiment in a press release issued Friday, writing, “For years, we’ve been wasting beautiful American oranges simply due to an outdated regulation, while relying on a high volume of imports. Under President Trump’s America First Administration, we’re cutting red tape, helping American farmers, and using common sense to reform a broken system. And orange juice will still taste just as good.”
Rollins said in a video posted to X that President Donald Trump tasked her with unleashing American citrus farmers to bring production back to the U.S.
Makary explained in the video that Florida oranges’ natural sugar has been decreasing “ever so slightly,” and a decades-old regulation is barring the use of some of these oranges. “Millions of Florida oranges cannot be used for orange juice,” he said.
“This is the beginning of America’s return to domestic orange dominance,” Rollins added.
????BIG win for Florida citrus!

Rollins has been working closely with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) since she was sworn in as Agriculture secretary, focusing on helping farmers while folding in the “Make America Healthy Again” agenda.
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently praised Rollins for focusing on the quality of our food, not just quantity, like past Agriculture secretaries.
Secretary Rollins is the best @USDA secretary we have ever had in our history. All of her predecessors were focused on one thing: food quantity. She is the first to really commit to food quality. Thank you, @SecRollins, for championing the MAHA movement. pic.twitter.com/sYtrryjdby

Aligning with MAHA, Rollins has signed waivers from 12 different states, granting their request to limit food stamps to healthier options, generally by barring sugary drinks and candy from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) purchases.
