‘Hysterical Reactions’: Elon Musk Refuses To Let Schumer Get The Final Word On DOGE

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has been busy criticizing the cost-cutting efforts led by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), but its leader, Elon Musk, is not letting him go unchallenged.

Over the past couple of days, Musk used his social media platform X to deliver retorts to Schumer’s negative assessments of DOGE, which President Donald Trump established by executive order on the first day of his second term.

“An unelected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government,” Schumer said in a post to X on Monday. “DOGE is not a real government agency. DOGE has no authority to make spending decisions. DOGE has no authority to shut programs down or to ignore federal law. DOGE’s conduct cannot be allowed to stand. Congress must take action to restore the rule of law.”

Musk shot back, saying, “Hysterical reactions like this is how you know that @DOGE is doing work that really matters. This is the one shot the American people have to defeat BUREAUcracy, rule of the bureaucrats, and restore DEMOcracy, rule of the people. We’re never going to get another chance like this. It’s now or never. Your support is crucial to the success of the revolution of the people.”

The back-and-forth continued on Tuesday after one account on X posted video of Schumer delivering remarks about DOGE on the Senate floor.

“The American people will not stand for an un-elected secret group to run rampant through the executive branch,” Schumer said. “Being innovative is good, but Mr. Musk, this isn’t a tech startup. These are public institutions.”

Musk responded with another post to X, declaring, “He’s mad that @DOGE is dismantling the radical-left shadow government in full view of the public. This is our ONE CHANCE to return POWER to the PEOPLE from an unelected BUREAUcracy back to DEMOcracy!! Only with the support of YOU can this succeed. Thank you, unknown soldiers.”

Other Democrat lawmakers who have been condemning the actions of DOGE also got replies from Musk on X, including Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), and Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA).

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
