MSNBC’s Maddow, Wallace Slammed For ‘Crazy, Deranged’ Remarks Politicizing Child Cancer Survivor

MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Nicolle Wallace faced backlash online following President Donald Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday night after they used an emotional moment with a young brain cancer survivor honored by the president to bash Trump.

The commentary from the far-left hosts came after Trump recognized 13-year-old Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, who was in the gallery for the event and has always dreamed of being a police officer.

“In 2018, DJ was diagnosed with brain cancer,” Trump said. “The doctors gave him five months at most to live. That was more than six years ago.”

“Since that time, DJ and his dad have been on a quest to make his dream come true and DJ has been sworn in as an honorary law enforcement officer, actually a number of times. The police love him. The police departments love him,” Trump continued. “And tonight, DJ, we are going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service.”

Maddow responded to the viral moment by calling it “disgusting.”

“For the record – and this is disgusting – the president made a spectacle out of praising a young man who’s thus far survived pediatric cancer – as if the president had something to do with that,” Maddow fumed.

Wallace used Daniel to attack Trump and said she hoped that he did not commit suicide.

“I hope he has a long life as a law enforcement officer, but I hope he never has to defend the United States Capitol against Donald Trump’s supporters and if he does, I hope he isn’t one of the six who loses his life to suicide,” Wallace said.

“And I hope he isn’t one that has to testify against the people who carried out acts of seditious conspiracy and then lived to see Donald Trump pardon those people,” she continued.

“Might be the most odious thing I’ve ever heard on cable news,” said political commentator Steve Krakauer. “Totally broken-brained punditry.”

Meghan McCain posted on X: “No one knows better than me how despicable Nicolle Wallace is but this is a new low even by her and msnbc’s standards.”

“Using a child with brain cancer to say this,” she added. “Trash from the gutter.”

Red State writer Bonchie responded to Maddow’s comments: “What a crazy, deranged thing to say.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
