‘Reprehensible’: Assaults On ICE Agents Skyrocket, Up 830% Over Last Year

Assaults against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials are up a mind-boggling 830% between January 21st and July 14th, 2025, over the same dates one year earlier.

The Department of Homeland Security shared the staggering information in a press release on Tuesday along with an official statement from DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

“Brave ICE law enforcement are risking their lives every day to keep our communities safe from the worst of the worst criminals. ICE law enforcement are succeeding to remove terrorists, murderers, pedophiles and the most depraved among us from America’s communities, even as crazed rhetoric from gutter politicians are inspiring a massive increase in assaults against them. It is reprehensible that our officers are facing this threat while simply doing their jobs and enforcing the law,” she wrote.

Just one day earlier, President Donald Trump’s rapid response team had shared a series of comments made by elected Democrats that the administration believes have put a target on the backs of federal agents who are doing their jobs to enforce immigration law.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) encouraged people to push back against the Trump administration “in the streets” and has repeatedly called for ICE agents to be unmasked despite threats against them and their families.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) called the protesters who have been obstructing — sometime violently — the efforts of ICE agents to enforce the law “inspiring,” and referred to the agents themselves as “deranged.”

Fresh off her own charges of “forcibly impeding and interfering with federal officers” after a physical altercation with agents in Newark, New Jersey, Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) encouraged her supporters to “shut down the city,” saying, “we are at war.”

Governor — and former vice presidential candidate — Tim Walz (D-MN) invoked the Nazi regime when he called ICE agents the “modern-day Gestapo.”

Rep. Eric Swalwell criticized ICE agents for covering their faces — many of whom are doing so due to threats against themselves and their families — comparing them to “some 1800s bank robber or some KGB officer in Russia.”

Both acting ICE Director Todd Lyons and Border Czar Tom Homan have voiced support for those agents who choose to cover their faces, saying that they have to be allowed some measure of protection against the unprecedented attacks.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
