‘RETALIATION:’ Whistleblower Who Exposed Transgender ‘Medicine’ Targeted by FBI, Lost Her Job

Vanessa Sivadge lost her job at a Texas hospital and faced questioning from the FBI after speaking out about experimental transgender “treatments” on children.

She told “The Daily Signal Podcast” how her faith motivated her to speak out and why she feared no one else shared her concerns, despite the fact that so-called “gender-affirming care” violated not just her faith but her medical ethics, as well.

“I felt so alone,” Sivadge said. “I felt like I was the only one in this hospital system that believed what I believed. And I was so overwhelmed and felt so outnumbered.”

The medical industry had almost uniformly embraced the idea that if a boy or a girl repeatedly and consistently said he or she identified as the opposite sex, it is healthy—lifesaving, even—to put that person on experimental drugs to alter internal chemistry and make him or her appear like the opposite sex.

Studies have revealed serious side effects from so-called “puberty blockers” and cross-sex hormones (like estrogen for men), and these interventions often lead to sterilizing surgeries that involve removing entire organs and replacing them with facsimiles of the opposite sex’s organs. Even though some studies suggest that “puberty blockers” increase thoughts of suicide among patients, doctors and activists claim that children will commit suicide if they are not encouraged to take these drugs.

Yet Sivadge, who worked at Texas Children’s Hospital (the largest children’s hospital in the U.S.), witnessed doctors pressuring parents to put their children down this path.

“These children were coming in with severe distress about their bodies, they were confused about their identity,” she told The Daily Signal. “It’s a very intimidating thing for … any well-meaning parent who loves their child deeply, wants only the best for them, and when a doctor in a white lab coat comes into the room and says, ‘If you do not affirm your child’s identity, they will commit suicide or harm themselves.'”

“That’s a devastating thing for any parent to hear that this is their only option moving forward, that this path is the only medically accepted option,” Sivadge noted.

“So, I watched as children would come into the clinic, week in and week out, and slowly begin to erase themselves,” she recalled. “Girls would start to develop a deeper voice and masculine features on their face and hair on their body, and likewise with the boys, they just became more feminine.”

When Dr. Eithan Haim released documents—with careful redactions to avoid identifying patients—revealing “gender-affirming care” at the hospital, that gave Sivadge the courage to speak out, as well, she said. She also released documents confirming Haim’s revelations.

A few months later, two FBI agents knocked on her door on a Monday night. They told her she was a person of interest in an investigation targeting a leaker who had allegedly violated the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Sivadge said they pressured her to testify against Haim, warning that she was “in danger,” that “my safety and my career were at risk.”

She refused to help them, and a few months later, she went public with the claim that the hospital was illegally billing Texas Medicaid for “puberty blockers” and cross-sex hormones. Texas Children’s Hospital maintains that it follows all Medicaid regulations.

Sivadge went public with her claims in June 2024, and Texas Children’s fired her in August.

“I do believe it was retaliation,” she told The Daily Signal.

The Department of Health and Human Services launched in April an investigation into Texas Children’s Hospital for allegedly retaliating against Sivadge. The department also launched an online complaint portal for whistleblowers to report other hospitals that provide “gender-affirming care” to minors.

Texas Children’s Hospital did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment about the retaliation claim.

Sivadge went on to found the organization Protecting Texas Children.

“Our mission is to safeguard the innocence of every child by affirming biological truth,” she said. That means opposing sexually explicit materials in school libraries and exposing the harms of “social transition”—where teachers at school treat a boy as a girl to “affirm” a transgender identity.

While conservatives may think of Texas as a deep-red state, the Republicans in the Legislature often fail to fight for conservative measures, Sivadge said.

Ultimately, the whistleblower said she opposes gender ideology because of her faith.

“The only one who can speak something into existence by declaring it is God himself,” Sivadge said. “But the Left and gender activists claim that when you declare that you are something, you are it, that when you speak something into existence, when you claim that you are the opposite sex—and, of course, you are not—that it becomes true.”

She said she believes “that Genesis 1 matters, that He made them male and female, and that we’re beautifully made in the image of God with a purpose.”

The FBI declined to comment for this story.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
