Speaker Calls Out Rep. Ilhan Omar for ‘Playing Into This Characterization of Charlie Kirk That the Left Has Been Advancing’

Rep. Ilhan Omar‘s rhetoric on Charlie Kirk reflects the current mindset of the Left, with many of its members celebrating the assassination of the conservative icon, House Speaker Mike Johnson said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“She clearly has no idea what she’s talking about. She has not followed Charlie,” Johnson stated.

Omar, D-Minn., has doubled down on the idea that Kirk’s message was divisive and offensive, claiming that he “was someone who was willing to debate and downplay the death of George Floyd.”

“I think he called him a ‘scumbag,'” Omar added.

“There is nothing more effed up, you know, than to completely pretend that his words and actions have not been recorded and in existence for the last decade or so,” Omar said.

The representative has also reposted a video that calls Kirk “a reprehensible human being” and “a stochastic terrorist,” and dehumanizes him as a “Dr. Frankenstein” who got killed by “his monster.”

“She’s playing into this characterization of him that the Left has been advancing,” Johnson said. “There are people actually celebrating his murder online, and that tells you everything you need to know.”

“His record speaks for itself,” Johnson continued. “He was a Christian, a committed believer. He understood what Scripture teaches, what you, and I understand, Shannon, that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and spiritual darkness. And Charlie understood. He put on, as it says there in Ephesians 6: ‘The full armor of God to go out and advance truth and do it in love.'”

“And that’s exactly what he did. That’s what his legacy stands for. And everyone around this country who is mourning his death understands that, in spite of what some of these voices are saying.”

Johnson also explained that the Trump administration is looking for new measures to increase security for members of Congress,” so that they have plenty of coverage for their residential security and their personal security as well.”

President Donald Trump requested $58 million from Congress on Saturday to increase security funding to protect federal officials in response to Kirk’s death, according to CBS.

Kirk’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21 in Glendale, Arizona, at State Farm Stadium. Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are expected to attend.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
